Italian Artist Alice Arcangeli Encourages Self-Love with Her Masturbation Diary

Alice Arcangeli, known as Sbrb Aliche, is a young artist born in 1998 and raised in Bologna (IT)

In the field of arts her interest moves from illustration, to performing arts and to video making.

The themes that are mostly covered in her works are the sexuality, the open-open-mindedness, the feminism and the taboo.

“The illustration is the most spontaneous vehicle that I’ve to communicate and I can define my style as very spontaneous and nearly childish, that gave me the opportunity to speak about uncomfortable topics in a direct, but light, way, she says.

Recently Alice has consolidated her conviction on the communicative power of art, deciding to transmit more and more her vision of the word through her works on different platforms and exhibitions.

Thanks to a recent collaboration with the photographers Sara Lorusso and Greta Langianni, she took part in the foundation of “Mulieris Magazine”, an online platform created to give the possibility to expose the female-identifying artists’ vision on monthly themes.

The masturbation diary has been designed a few months ago with the main aim of underlining a theme that is still today a taboo: the female masturbation.

“First of all I’ve to admit that, before than the diary was published, I was quite scared about the reactions around it. Then, realizing the diary, I focused my attention on the importance that it has in terms of self-knowledge, which is the base for a satisfactory and full sexual approach”.

“I had my first experience with my body in the young age, maybe around 10 years old,” Alice confesses. “I clearly remember that was absolutely spontaneous to speak about this self discovery with my friends; it’s funny to realize that growing up it moves to be more and more a taboo.”

She says it’s ever more important because “masturbation has a fundamental role in terms of self-knowledge, which is the base for a satisfactory and full sexual approach.” To be able to not delegate pleasure only to a partner or partners is not only an easier way to reach an orgasm due to self-knowledge and exploration but also the beginning of an interior process to discover the we really need and deserve.

The strong impact that the diary is reaching has highlighted the importance of sensitization about the self-pleasure, not only as mere act of raising awarenes but also as important way to discover tastes and inclinations.

Alice hopes that the diary will “help as many individuals as possible in better discovering themselves.”
